Bláthnaid Ní Chofaigh's Sexual Harassment Case Against RTÉ Postponed Until September

File image: Rolling News

A number of people that were due to give evidence today have contracted Covid-19.

Bláthnaid Ní Chofaigh’s case was all set to go before the Workplace Relations Commission, but this morning the adjudicator was asked to adjourn it after a number of witnesses due to give evidence on behalf of RTÉ contracted Covid-19.

Ms Ní Chofaigh wasn’t present when the request was made but given the circumstances her lawyer said she didn’t object to the adjournment.

However, she did say her client was quite disappointed that it was going ahead because it had taken such a long time to get on.

Some witnesses described as “high-profile individuals” will give their evidence in private at Bláthnaid Ní Chofaigh’s sexual harassment case against RTÉ.

The TV presenter claims she was sexually harassed and victimised while working for the State broadcaster.

The adjudicator was told both sides have agreed on a protocol whereby witnesses won’t be named during the hearing. Instead, they’ll be referred to as Mr A, Ms B etc.

Furthermore, the media was told that some “high-profile individuals” who have nothing to do with an alleged incident after a photoshoot in a hotel will give their evidence in private.

The four-day hearing is due to get underway on September 8th.
