Children's Ombudsman: Stop Using Hotels to House Children Living In Direct Provision

The situation for children has actually deteriorated in recent years.

The Children's Ombudsman has called on the Government to ensure children in Direct Provision are growing up in safe, secure environments.

The Ombudsman for Children’s Office has published a report on the safety and welfare of children in direct provision, which calls on the Government to stop using hotels to accommodate them and to improve inspections and protections.

It also says the situation for children has actually deteriorated in recent years.
