
Site of new hospital gifted by The Sisters of Charity
Deputy Bríd Smith of People Before Profit says there is a real danger services at the new National Maternity Hospital will be impacted by religious ethos.
Tánaiste, Leo Varadkar previously told the Dáil he believes there are "problems" with the governance of the hospital, and the ownership of the site on which it will be built.
The Sisters of Charity is gifting the site to an independent charity, and the Government will rent the land.
The charity has stated it will not be involved in the running of the hospital.
But Deputy Smith says the board will not be appointed by the Government:
