Covid-19 Hospitalisations Could Exceed 200 Next Week

Figures have more than doubled in the past 14 days

The number of Covid-19 patients in hospital is likely to exceed 200 within the next week, according to an infectious diseases consultant.

The figure has more than doubled in the past 14 days, and now stands at 106.

The highest number of Covid cases in six months was also confirmed yesterday, with NPHET reporting 1,386 new infections.

Dr Eoghan de Barra, from Beaumont Hospital, fears a further sharp increase in hospitalisations, as the fourth wave continues.
