Gardaí have described last night's violent scenes in Dublin city centre as 'gratuitous thuggery'

Calm was finally restored around midnight after hours of clashes which involved attacks on Gardaí, burning or vehicles and looting.

34 people have been arrested in connection with the violence. 

Dublin City is now seeing major travel disruption this morning following the riots. 

The operator of Luas services say extensive damage has been caused to over head power cables in the city centre.

Dublin Bus services have resumed this morning after being suspended last night.
