The works involve the installation of over two kilometres of new wastewater pipeline between the Castletown Wastewater Pumping Station and Crodaun, passing through Castletown Estate, Castletown Drive and the R405 Maynooth Road.
An €8.5 million wastewater upgrade has begun in Celbridge, bringing months of traffic disruption but paving the way for major housing development in the town.
Works on the Crodaun Wastewater Network Upgrade got underway this week, with Castletown Drive closed to public traffic until May under a rolling closure arrangement.
The closure runs from the Main Street junction to the R405 Maynooth Road, with diversion routes in place and resident access being maintained throughout the works.
Access for residents of Castletown Drive will be maintained at all times.
"The site team will liaise directly with residents as works approach individual properties. Diversions follow the R405, with northbound access via a right turn into Castletown Drive and southbound access via Main Street and a left turn into Castletown Drive," a spokesperson for Uisce Éireann said.
The project, being delivered by Uisce Éireann, represents an €8.5 million investment and is designed to increase wastewater capacity in Celbridge, enabling the potential delivery of more than 900 new homes.
