Burke has been in and out of various courtrooms for several months now
Enoch Burke will be back in court today, this time for the full hearing in relation to his dispute with Wilson’s Hospital School in Co Westmeath.
Earlier this month, he lost an appeal against court orders to stay away from the school where he used to teach German and History before his dismissal.
Enoch Burke has been in and out of various courtrooms for several months now – always in of his own accord, but not always out by choice.
A weeks ago, he was forcibly removed from court as his legal challenge to injunctions refraining him from attending at his former school was being dismissed.
It all goes back to last May when he and his former colleagues at the school were told a student would be transitioning and wished to be referred to by another name and gender-neutral pronouns.
Enoch says transgenderism goes against his religious beliefs and because of that, he claims the school initiated disciplinary proceedings and ultimately fired him.
The school denies that, insisting it was his behaviour, which they found to be gross misconduct.
Over the next four days, this hearing will take a closer look at his suspension and the disciplinary process that led to him being dismissed.
