Visit to mark 50 years since Ireland joined EU
It’s hoped Ursula von der Leyen’s visit to Ireland will accelerate progress around the Northern Ireland Protocol.
As part of the visit to mark 50 years since Ireland became a member of the EU, the European Commission President will meet with the Taoiseach and President Michael D Higgins.
In an address to the Dáil and Seanad, President von der Leyen is expected to discuss energy security, the economy and the Ukraine war.
Minister for European Affairs Thomas Byrne also expects the Northern Ireland protocol to be a feature of her speech
