EU Plans Crackdown on Dynamic Pricing for Concerts

It follows high profile criticism of certain concert sales, most notably Oasis and Taylor Swift.

Ireland's EU Commissioner for Consumer Protection, Michael McGrath, says the European Commission is examining dynamic pricing as part of the proposed Digital Fairness Act.

The practice allows ticket prices to rise automatically when demand is high.

Under the proposed changes, promoters may be required to state how many tickets are available at price before tickets go on sale.

Dynamic pricing is currently not illegal, but the EU is looking at whether consumers are being misled when advertised prices increase significantly during the booking process.
