Government could refuse to reinstate a 12 Million Euro scheme
Farmers stand to lose out on thousands of euro if the Government refuses to reinstate a 12 Million Euro scheme.
Under the Straw Scheme farmers get paid to chop straw and re-incorporate it into the soil in order to increase organic carbon levels.
The scheme was scrapped last week by the Minister for Agriculture Charlie Mc Conalogue without any warning.
Independent Rural TD, Mattie McGrath, says Farmers are waiting to be paid for their contribution to the scheme.
