It follows the rising number of tents along the Grand Canal
The government is considering creating a large-scale tented accommodation site for asylum seekers in north Dublin.
It's looking at using a portion of the 160 acre Thornton Hall site near Ashbourne, which was previously earmarked for a prison.
Part of the site is understood to already be serviced with toilets, sanitation facilities and kitchens.
It follows the number of tents along a section of the Grand Canal in Dublin rising to nearly 90 today from 57 yesterday.
The number of asylum seekers rough sleeping between the Baggot Street bridge and Wilton Place has been increasing since last week.
