The presidency rotates, monthly.
Ireland takes over the presidency of the United Nations Security Council today.
The presidency is rotated each month, and will see Ireland preside over meetings and deal with council agendas for September.
Our UN ambassador, Geraldine Byrne Nason, will hold a press conference later to outline Ireland's priorities for the presidency.
Today Ireland moves to the head of the horseshoe table for our September Presidency of the #UNSC!
