It’s warning that major flood relief schemes are at preliminary design stage
Ireland needs to stop treating floods, storms, drought and extreme heat as isolated emergencies - and start preparing for a climate with greater extremes.
That’s according to the Climate Change Advisory Council, which says the country’s resilience planning isn't keeping pace with the risks.
It’s also warning that 30 of 54 major flood relief schemes remain at preliminary design stage.
