The bill was first tabled in 2018 by Senator Frances Black.
Cabinet has approved new legislation banning the trade of goods with illegal Israeli occupied settlements in Palestine.
The legislation is a scaled back version of the original proposal brought forward in 2018, with the Government opting to only include goods, and not services, as was originally proposed.
Foreign Affairs Minister Helen McEntee, says today’s action is in response to Israel's ‘utterly unacceptable’ behavior.
Opposition parties are calling for the bill to include services as was originally proposed.
Green Party leader Roderic O’Gorman says this is about political will rather than any legal issues and Taoiseach Micheal Martin says the inclusion of services would do more harm than good for Ireland.
