A man in his 50s has been arrested in Dublin in relation to alleged 'bogus tradesmen' activities.

A garda investigation began after a man in his 70s handed over a substantial sum of cash to alleged bogus tradesmen for roofing works on a southeast Dublin home.

The arrested man has since been released from custody and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Gardaí say that the investigation is ongoing.
