A man has been arrested following an incident on Parnell Square in Dublin city centre this morning.
The man in his 30s was allegedly brandishing a knife in the Parnell St and Parnell Square areas in the city centre.
The incident occurred at around 9am this morning.
It’s understood that gardai received a call that a man with a knife was acting in a threatening manner and they were quickly scene and arrested the man on Parnell Street.
He is currently in custody in a Dublin city centre garda station.
Gardaí say he has arrested for alleged offences under the Firearms and Offences Weapons Act.
While there are no injuries reported, gardaí said they had been conducting regular patrols in the area and these patrols will continue.
There is still a visible garda presence in the area this afternoon.
