A man has been remanded in custody after being charged with an attack on a woman in a Dublin laneway.
It's alleged she was tied up and gagged with duct tape.
Maurice Fitzgerald, with an address at Abbeyview in Buttevant, Cork, appeared before Dublin District Court yesterday charged with a number of offences including allegedly falsely imprisoning a woman in Dublin city centre on Saturday night.
The 29 year-old is also accused of assault causing harm and possession of a claw hammer and duct tape.
The court heard a witness reported seeing a man dragging a woman up a laneway and hearing the sound a duct tape according to the Irish Examiner.
The court was told when Gardaí arrived on the scene near Meeting House Square, they observed the accused attempting to pull the woman under a parked car "in an attempt to hide her".
Maurice Fitzgerald was remanded in custody to appear before Cloverhill court on Friday, September 2nd.
