45-year-old John Halpin of Whitestown Avenue, Blanchardstown, Dublin 15 made no application for bail when he appeared before Dublin District Court this morning.
A man has been remanded in custody after being charged in court in connection with a hit-and-run in Dublin on St Stephen's Day.
A husband and wife died in the incident in Blanchardstown last Thursday.
45-year-old John Halpin of Whitestown Avenue, Blanchardstown, Dublin 15 made no application for bail when he appeared before Dublin District Court this morning.
He presented himself to Blanchardstown Garda Station four hours after the crash and was later charged with two offences of dangerous driving causing the deaths of 40 year old Anthony Hogg and 39 year old Georgina Hogg Moore, and two counts of hit and run and failing to offer assistance at the scene, at Blanchardstown Road South last Thursday the 26th of December.
Garda Alan Murphy told the court that Mr Halpin made no reply when he was charged.
Judge Michele Finian remanded Mr Halpin in custody to appear again at Cloverhill District Court on Friday pending directions from the DPP and a possible bail hearing.
The accused has yet to indicate a plea.
A woman who had also been arrested and questioned by Gardai has been released without charge, and a file will be prepared for the DPP.
