Last night's death means the same number of people have been killed on Irish roads so far in 2023, as in all of last year.
155 people have died in road collisions - up 36 on the same time last year.
One person has died on the roads in Kildare so far this year.
It comes ahead of a high visibility road safety campaign for the October bank holiday weekend.
