Its to finalise regulations on operation of the late night sector.

Talks between Government officials and groups representing nightclubs and late-night venues will take place this morning.

They'll try to finalise plans for how the late-night sector will operate over the next few months.

One of the main issues to be resolved is the need for tickets, where people won't be seated, to allow for contact tracing and to avoid mass congregation.

Padraig Cribben, Chief Executive of the Vintners Federation of Ireland, says clarity around tickets is needed by this evening

The meeting concluded late on Tuesday morning.

Tickets to enter a nightclub or late bar will need to be booked an hour in advance.

Government officials have told representatives of the sector that all tickets must be digital, and there should be no congregation outside of venues.

Pub and club owners have sought a two-week grace period to allow them to implement a ticketing system, with officials yet to give a response.

Owner of the Castle Inn in Cork, Michael O'Donovan, says there is no clarity for pubs which become late night venues
