No Plans To Reintroduce Covid Restrictions, Says The Minister For Health

The Government will instead focus on expanding the booster campaign

The Health Minister says he hasn't received any public health advice to reintroduce guidelines.

Stephen Donnelly says his department will focus its attention on expanding the booster campaign across the country.

The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation is calling on the Government to re-introduce mask wearing as a matter of urgency.

The union says there are currently 5,000 healthcare staff out with Covid and the system is operating at a level of disruption they've never experienced before.

Minister Donnelly says anyone who has not yet come forward for a booster should do so as soon as possible.

Senior Emergency Consultant, Sligo Regional Hospital and Communications Office, Irish Association for Emergency Medicine, Fergal Hickey, spoke to Eoin Beatty on Kildare Focus about the over crowding in hospitals:
