Some 750 are currently receiving treatment, compared to 1,004 seven days ago.
It's also down 54% on the most recent peak, when 1,624 were in hospital on March 28th.
Meanwhile, a virus expert says the latest Covid variant to be detected here, Omicron XE, is a 'minor variation'.
Professor Gerry Kileen says the strain, which is more transmissible, is something we should keep our eye on, but not be overly concerned about:
