That's according to a new poll
More than half of the public want to see the TV licence fee scrapped and replaced with State funding.
A poll conducted by Amarach Research for the Daily Mail found 53 per cent of people surveyed want the fee scrapped while just 29 per cent want to maintain it.
Sales of the licence have dropped by 22 million euro since the recent scandals in RTE.
