Ongoing pressures on GPs across the country has forced many to close patient waiting lists.
A snap survey carried out by The Irish Independent shows over six in ten stopped taking on new patients altogether.
This past December saw a significant increase in cases of winter illnesses - causing a serious spike in people looking for GP appointments.
However, Dr Diarmuid Quinlan, Medical Director of the Irish College of General Practitioners says that's not all true.
