That's the advice from water safety groups, as people flock to beaches and inland waterways while enjoying the good weather.
Even though it's sunny and the evenings are getting brighter, water safety groups are warning water temperatures are still low.
The RNLI's Water Safety Manager, Killian O'Kelly, says you need to spend some time preparing before using any equipment that's been lying up over the winter:
