A pilot has been found guilty of his role in importing €8.4 million worth of cocaine into the midlands three years ago.

Michal Luczak (44), who formerly resided at Primrose Avenue, Jigginstown, Naas, and now living in Dublin, was convicted at Mullingar Circuit Court of possessing and importing cocaine at Abbeyshrule Aerodrome, Co Longford, on August 4, 2022.

Luczak, a Polish national and father of two, was the pilot of a Cessna 182 light aircraft.

According to The Journal, the court was told Luczak and his co-pilot, Timothy Gilchrist (57), flew from Abbeyshrule to Le Touquet in northern France on August 3, 2022, stayed overnight, and then travelled to Dieppe, where the cocaine was collected.

Gilchrist was jailed for 11 years last year.

Luczak had pleaded not guilty.

A sentencing hearing has been set for November 10th.
