35,000 contacts have been made between survivors of domestic abuse and Gardai,
The Policing Authority has praised Gardai for a high level of contact with survivors of, and people at risk of domestic abuse during 2021.
It's published a report outlining key achievements and challenges the force has dealt with in the first 6 months of this year.
35,000 contacts have been made between survivors of domestic abuse and Gardai, with 80 percent getting a return call within 7 days of reporting a crime.
However the Authority says 'long standing weaknesses' have been exacerbated, which it says has been seen in the cancelling of 999 calls - a matter that was absent from Garda reporting to the authority.
The #PolicingAuthority has today published its Assessment of Policing Performance, which covers performance by the Garda Síochána during the first six months of 2021.https://t.co/FwgI2dH0if
