The payment is expected to align with standard unemployment benefits gradually.
The Pandemic Unemployment payment could be phased rather than ended abruptly overnight.
Reports in today's Irish Independent say the PUP will gradually move in line with the standard unemployment benefit of 203 euros.
The PUP, which has been in place since March 2020, is due to end in June.
However it's expected that the support will be extended for the duration of the summer.
Last week, 403 thousand people receieved the pandemic unemployment payment - a decrease of over 17,000 on the previous week.
