The Executive Board of RTÉ is being stood down from today.
The new Director General confirmed the news in an email to staff this morning.
In his email, Kevin Backhurst says he understands the staff of RTE are deeply upset and angry.
He says he plans to be a visible and available Director General and change will be essential to rebuild trust in public service broadcasting,

A new permanent leadership team will be announced in due course which he says will be open, transparent and accountable.
Their salaries will also be published every year along with those of the top 10 presenters,
The NUJ has welcomed the developments saying it hopes this marks the beginning of a new beginning at RTE.
While Media Minister Catherine Martin says its the time for a reset at the state broadcaster.
