Streaming Services Could Be Made To Pay A Levy To Find Independent TV Production.

Oireachtas Media and Culture Committee report to be published today.

Streaming services like Netflix and Amazon Prime should be made pay a new levy to help fund independent TV production.

That's one of the proposals contained in a new report by the Oireachtas Media and Culture committee which's to be published today.

According to the Irish Times, the report also recommends the creation of an independent online safety commissioner with powers to police harmful content.
