That's according to new research compiled by the Galway Traveller Movement.
It says many members of the community found it nearly impossible to self-isolate and lacked access to essential amenities like running water, sanitary facilities or electricity.
Anne Marie Roche is a health worker with the Galway Traveller Movement.
She says it was very difficult for Travellers to follow public health guidance:

The epidemiologist, a senior figure at the World Health Organisation, spoke after a new report found Covid has had a disproportionate impact on Travellers.
He says this must be addressed
There have been more than 1,000 Covid cases in the Travelling community in Galway since the start of the pandemic.
A report released today found Travellers are twice as likely to get Covid compared to the rest of the population.
Consultant Dr Aileen Kitching says the long term impact of this is still unknown.
