Taoiseach Micheál Martin reopened the Fitzgibbon Street Garda station in Dublin city today, following the stations closure over a decade ago.
The 110-year-old period building has been unoccupied since it was shuttered in 2011, but was granted funding for redevelopment in 2017 following a series of recommendations.
The station was reopened this afternoon by the Taoiseach alongside Justice Minister Helen McEntee, Finance Minister Paschal Donohoe and Garda Commissioner Drew Harris.
Fitzgibbon Street Garda Station in Dublin has officially been re-opened after more than a decade, it was shut in 2011 as the State tried to save money during the crash.
Standing in the shadow of Croke Park off the North Circular Road, Fitzgibbon Garda Station is open once again.
After some intense works it re opened as essentially a victim support centre, it is back up to about 90 staff and is partnered with nearby Mount Joy Garda Station.
The station has been open since October but it had it's ribbon cutting ceremony today.
