It's in a bid to keep teachers as many schools say they're struggling to retain staff because of the cost of living crisis.
Teaching unions say they are losing teachers as a result to places like Dubai as schools struggle to retain staff.
The INTO, which represents primary school teachers is now going to advocate for a special allowance to be given to teachers who work in cities or urban areas.
A similar scheme is already in place in London where teachers can receive up to 10 thousand euro extra depending on where they live.
The Government has previously resisted calls for a special teachers allowance with the Education Minister playing down such a move.
