Nationally, Kildare was one of the three counties with the lowest number of vacant dwellings in the final quarter of 2024
More than 70,000 homes were vacant in the final quarter of 2024, according to the CSO's latest Residential Vacancy Based on Metered Electricity Consumption 2024 report.
CSO figures show that's an estimated vacancy rate of 3.2 per cent.
The data was measured on the level of metered electricity consumption.
Leixlip saw the lowest number of vacant dwellings in Q4 of 2024, at 71.
Vacancy rates in Kildare were found to be one of the lowest nationally, at 1.4 per cent.
South Dublin saw the lowest vacancy rates, at 0.9 per cent, followed by Fingal at 1.1 per cent.
The Local Authority with the highest vacancy rate was Leitrim at 7.8 per cent.
There was just a marginal change in the number of vacant properties compared to the year before.
The vacancy rate nationally fell from 3.3 per cent in Q4 2023 to 3.2 per cent in Q4 2024.
The number of vacant dwellings based on metered electricity consumption data was 70,149 in Q4 2024, which was down from 72,254 in Q4 2023.
