The US tourist suffered 'life altering' injuries during an attack late last Wednesday night.

Gardai investigating a serious assault in Dublin have made an arrest.

The US tourist suffered 'life altering' injuries during an attack late last Wednesday night.

He had just left his hotel when he was assaulted by a group of youths who kicked and punched him just yards from Store St garda station.

The man has been treated at Beaumont hospital since.

Today, Gardai arrested a teenage boy in connection with the assault.

He is now being held under section 4 of the criminal justice act and is being questioned at a north Dublin garda station.
