The Irish Government Has Spent Over 1.3 Billion Euro On Accommodating Asylum Seekers

The Irish Government has spent over one point three billion euro on accommodating asylum seekers since the beginning of 2022.

The International Protection Accommodation Service spent €357m housing 7,244 asylum seekers in 2022

€652 million was spent housing 19,202 international protection applicants last year.

So far this year €318 million has been spent housing over 30,000 asylum seekers.

The Department of Integration say the increase in spending is because of an “unprecedented” increase in applicants for international protection.
