The International Protection Accommodation Service spent €357m housing 7,244 asylum seekers in 2022
€652 million was spent housing 19,202 international protection applicants last year.
So far this year €318 million has been spent housing over 30,000 asylum seekers.
The Department of Integration say the increase in spending is because of an “unprecedented” increase in applicants for international protection.
