TDs and Senators from Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil will debate opposing motions on the carbon tax this evening.
The Fine Gael Parliamentary Party members will be asked to pass a motion calling for a delay to next month's increase until the war in Ukraine's over.
The Fianna Fáil PP will be asked to reaffirm support for the carbon tax increases as a way of ring fencing funding for climate projects.
The Greens support the planned increase next month, but its reported the issue threatens to create a divide in the coalition.
