Tributes Flow As Architect And Broadcaster Hugh Wallace Dies Suddenly At 68

Wallace spoke openly about his struggles with alcoholism and the decision to seek treatment, saying it had given him “a second chance at life”.

Architect and television presenter Hugh Wallace has died at the age of 68.

In a statement posted on Wallace's Instagram account, his husband Martin Corbett wrote: "It is with deep sadness and shock that I share the news that my beloved husband and soulmate, Hugh Wallace, passed away suddenly at home last night. I am heartbroken. Please respect my privacy at this deeply painful time. Martin."

 

Wallace spoke openly about his struggles with alcoholism and the decision to seek treatment, saying it had given him “a second chance at life”.

He frequently used his platform to call for stronger addiction supports and urged others in difficulty to reach out.

Alongside his broadcasting work, he continued to run a busy architectural practice and remained a prominent voice on housing and design.

Wallace is survived by his husband, Martin Corbett.
