The two Gardaí were injured and needed hospital treatment
Two men accused of assaulting gardaí in an alleged incident in Ballyfermot in Dublin yesterday morning have appeared in court.
35-year-old Steven Byrne, of Ballyformot Avenue, and 54-year-old Anthony Grogan, with an address at Cherry Orchard Park, Ballyfermot, were each charged with three counts under the Public Order Act.
Steven Byrne and Anthony Grogan were each charged with 2 counts of assaulting a Garda, and one count of violent disorder.
It's in relation to an alleged incident on Ballyfermot Road in the early hours of yesterday morning, in which two gardaí were injured and needed hospital treatment.
In a hearing before Dublin District Court, both accused made no reply under caution to the charges.
Judge Paula Murphy said the charges were of a serious nature, but added the accused were both entitled to bail and to a presumption of innocence.
She remanded both men in custody with consent to bail, and they are due to appear in court again in the next week.
