Leo Varadkar has been elected as Taoiseach for the second time, by 87 votes to 62.

Independent TDs Peter Fitzpatrick, Noel Grealish, Michael Lowry, Denis Naughten, Marc MacSharry and Cathal Berry voted with the Government
In his acceptance speech Varadkar mentioned building on the work of his immediate predecessor and soon to be Tánaiste Micheál Martin particularly when it comes to housing which will be the defining issue for the next term of Government.
He will travel to the Aras to meet President Michael D Higgins and get his seal of office, before returning to Government Buildings to begin reforming the Cabinet.
