An incident room has been set up at Mountjoy Garda Station.
A woman in her 60s has been killed in a suspected hit-and-run in North Dublin.
Gardaí in Mountjoy continue to investigate all the circumstances of a fatal traffic collision at the Cross Guns Bridge on Phibsborough Road, Dublin 7, which occurred at approximately 9.10pm on Wednesday 4th October 2023.
The collision involved a car and a pedestrian. A woman in her 60’s was pronounced deceased at the scene a short time later. A family liaison officer has been appointed to the family of the deceased lady.
The suspect car, a 07D Silver Honda Civic, was recovered in the wider Phibsboro Area a short time later. This car has been removed to a secure location where it is undergoing technical and forensic examination.
The scene of the collision is preserved for technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. The section of road from Cross Guns Bridge to the junction of Phibsborough Road and Connaught Street is closed and local diversions will remain in place for the afternoon.
Gardaí continue to appeal to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone with any information on the driver of the 07D Silver Honda Civic or who saw this vehicle in the wider Phibsborough, Dublin 7 area in the hours before the fatal collision to contact them.
Any road users with camera footage (including dashcam) who travelled in the Phibsborough area between 8.30pm and 9.30pm on Wednesday 4th October 2023 are asked to make this available to investigating Gardaí.
