A woman is in a stable condition in hospital following a serious assault in West Dublin on Friday night.

A man has been arrested as part of an investigation into the attack.

Emergency services were called to the Waterville area of Dublin 15 shortly before 9 o'clock.

The woman in her 40s received treatment at the scene before being taken to Connolly Hospital.

A man in his 30s remains in garda custody.
