Around 40,000 supporters are expected to welcome the team back to Castlebar.

The All-Ireland senior football champions have boarded the train home as crowds await for their arrival.

Before making the trip home, the Mayo footballers brought the Sam Maguire Cup to Temple Street Children's Hospital this morning.

A crowd of around 40,000 supporters are expected to welcome the team back to Castlebar after their win against Kerry in the final at Croke Park yesterday.

The Westerners ended a 75 year wait to lift the Sam Maguire by defeating Kerry 1-20 to 1-17 at Croke Park yesterday.

Forward Tommy Conroy is still coming to terms with the outpouring of emotion on the day.
