Dublin promoted as Kildare fall to heavy Wexford defeat in Division 1B.
There was a dramatic final round of the Allianz Hurling League Division 1B on Saturday, with promotion and relegation decided across the board.
Kildare's campaign ended in defeat as they were well beaten by Wexford, losing out by 3-29 to 1-14. The Lilywhites struggled to contain a powerful Wexford attack, who ran in three goals on their way to a comprehensive win.
Despite the loss, Kildare had already secured their Division 1B status heading into the final round.
Elsewhere, Dublin sealed promotion to Division 1A with an emphatic 0-34 to 2-14 victory over Carlow. Dublin's scoring power proved decisive, with a strong second half-performance pulling them clear and confirming their place in the top tier for next season.
The result also meant relegation for Carlow, who dropped out of Division 1B.
In the final game of the group, Down recorded a high-scoring win over Antrim, 3-29 to 3-20. However, despite the victory, Down's earlier results meant they were still relegated from the division.
Antrim, meanwhile, survive in Division 1B, benefiting from Carlow's defeat.
The final round brought a decisive end to the Division 1B campaign, with Dublin joining the race for top-tier honours next season, while Carlow and Down prepare for life in the lower divisions.
