The Leinster duo accepted their awards in a ceremony at the Guinness Storehouse yesterday evening, after outstanding seasons for both province and country

Aoife Wafers and Caelan Doris have been named Rugby Writers Players of the Year.

Wafer says she's determined to become one of the best players in world after collecting the women's player of the year award.

The Wexford back-row was part of the Ireland team that beat New Zealand in the WXV this year on the back of qualifying for the World Cup through a third-place finish in the Six Nations.

Ireland captain Caelan Doris was named the men's player of the year last night, two days after being shortlisted for the world player of the year award.

Doris was a key part of the Ireland side that won a second successive Six Nations title, in a campaign which saw him captain Ireland for the first side.
