Arsenal Now Fourth In P.L.; Liverpool & Chelsea In Action Tonight

Leinster V Montpellier game still in doubt

Arsenal have leapfrogged West Ham and gone fourth in the Premier League table.

The Gunners beat the Hammers 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium last night with goals by Gabriel Martinelli and Emile Smith Rowe.

Wolves are eighth after they defeated Brighton 1-0.

While it ended 2-2 between Crystal Palace and Southampton.

 

In tonight's matches, Liverpool play Newcastle United with kick off at Anfield from 8pm.

It's Chelsea against Everton at Stamford Bridge from 7.45pm.

Leicester City take on Tottenham Hotspur at the King Power Stadium from 7.30pm.

 

It's as you were at the top of the Scottish Premiership after Celtic won 2-1 at Ross County last night and leaders Rangers beat St Johnstone 2-0.

 

The Republic of Ireland will learn their opponents in next year's Nations League when the draw is made in Switzerland later.

Stephen Kenny's men are in pot 3 of League B.

Potential opponents from pot 1 include Ukraine, Sweden, Bosnia Herzegovina and Iceland.

Pot 2 opponents will come one of Finland, Norway, Scotland and Russia.

And the 'Boys in Green' will face one team from pot 4, which consists of Slovenia, Montenegro, Albania and Armenia.

RUGBY

Leinster's game against Montpellier in the Champions Cup tomorrow remains up in the air.

Both camps have been affected by Covid-19 cases and Leinster are awaiting on another round of PCR testing before deciding whether to travel.

HORSE RACING

Grand National winning jockey Rachael Blackmore won the Irish Racing Hero Award at the Horse Racing Ireland Awards last night.

The Tipperary native became the first woman to win the famous race aboard 'Minella Times' back in April.

She was also crowned leading jockey at the Cheltenham Festival.

Gold Cup and Grand National winning trainer Henry de Bromhead took the National Hunt Award, and the Flat Award went to champion jockey Colin Keane.

Doctor Jennifer Pugh was the recepient of the Contribution to the Industry Award.

Champion Hurdle winner 'Honeysuckle' was named Horse of the Year.

There is a meeting over jumps today at Naas, with the first off there at 11.45.

BADMINTON

Ireland's Nhat Nguyen takes on China's Zhao Ju Peng in the last 16 of the World Championships in Spain later today.
