Australia recorded a surprise World Cup victory over Turkey, as they won 2-0 in Vancouver.
The Socceroos absorbed sustained Turkish pressure before striking through 20-year-old winger Nestory Irankunda, who became Australia's youngest-ever World Cup goalscorer.
Turkey dominated possession and created a host of chances, but Australia remained disciplined defensively and were rewarded when Connor Metcalfe doubled their advantage in the second half.
Goalkeeper Patrick Beach also played a key role, producing a number of important saves as Australia kept a clean sheet despite facing 30 Turkish attempts on goal.
The result leaves Tony Popovic's side well placed in Group D ahead of a meeting with the United States, while Turkey will look to bounce back against Paraguay.
