ROI midfielder Finn Azaz was on target, but Manchester City staged a late comeback.
Republic of Ireland international Finn Azaz looked set to be the hero at Wembley, but Manchester City turned the game on its head late on to beat Southampton 2-1 and reach another FA Cup final.
Azaz, who has impressed this season for the Championship side, produced a moment of real quality late in the second half, curling a superb effort into the back of the net.
However, City responded quickly. Jeremy Doku levelled the game, before Nico Gonzalez struck the winner with minutes to go.
For Irish fans, Azaz's performance will be a major positive, as the midfielder continues to grow on one of the biggest stages.
