Caoimhín Agyarko's was beaten on points by Josh Kelly after challenging for the IBF super welterweight world title in Saudi Arabia.

Caoimhín Agyarko's bid to become a world champion ended in disappointment after he lost a unanimous points decision to Josh Kelly in Jeddah.

The Belfast boxer recovered strongly after a difficult opening half of the contest, putting the champion under sustained pressure in the closing rounds.

However, Kelly had built enough of an advantage to retain his IBF super welterweight title.

The judges scored the fight 114-113, 115-112, and 115-112 in favour of the Englishman.

Despite the defeat, Agyarko impressed in just his second 12-round contest and said afterwards he remained determined to become Ireland's first Black world boxing champion.
