Cavan's Leona Maguire shot a 7 under par opening round to lead the LPGA Tour's Mediheal Championship in California by one shot.

Seamus Power is 1 under par and Padraig Harrington is 2 over after round one of the Palmetto Championship on the PGA Tour in South Carolina.

Wes Roach leads on 7 under.

Irish rookie @leona_maguire shot a 7-under 65 on Thursday at Lake Merced to take the first-round lead in the @MEDIHEALChamp, the Tour's second straight event on the San Francisco Peninsula.
